New Hawks Coaching Team Appointed. |
|
Blackburn Hawks are very pleased to announce that Jared Owen has been appointed as the new Head Coach for season 2010/11. Jared brings many years experience of playing and coaching at various levels including playing in the English Premier League for a number of years. Jared has also had experience of coaching junior teams with Telford U'12's & u'16's who both reached the national finals and as Assistant Coach at Telford Titans when they were promoted to Division 1 in 2009 season, Jared also finished that season as 2nd highest scorer in the league. As a player for the Hawks last year Jared quickly established himself as a great support to Gary Buckman in the locker room and earnt the respect of the players and management with his professionalism and commitment both on and off the ice. Jared has high expectations for the forthcoming season and will be looking to hold trials towards the end of June (date to be confirmed soon). Jared's history of working with junior players means that he is very interested in developing closer links with the Junior Development section to develop the Hawks of the future and this is something that he has made clear from the start. Jared has moved quickly to appoint his support coaching staff by appointing Danny Brittle as Assistant Coach and Gary Buckman as his Bench Coach. Danny will remain as the Hawks No.1 netminder and will bring extra coaching experience as he has been coaching Telford U'18s for the last two years and leading them to the national finals last month. Gary Buckman, after leading the Hawks to a successful season last year following his promotion from Asst Coach early in the season, will be Bench Coach. Gary originally joined the Hawks last year as Assistant Coach to develop his coaching skills and he will be able to continue to do this in this role. We are very grateful for the work Gary did whilst acting as Head Coach last season. It is expected that most players will be looking to re-sign for the forthcoming season and a number of additional players of good quality have expressed their interest in joining the Hawks. It looks like an exciting season ahead! More news to follow soon......... discuss....
