Full 9 Yards sponsored Blackburn Hawks game against Solihull on Sunday saw the culmination of the first Blackburn Hawks In the Community Night and what a resounding success it proved to be.
Over 500 families descended on Blackburn Arena to boost the attendance to four figures, many for the first time and they wern’t disappointed. Representatives from local primary Schools St Matthews, St Pauls Hoddlesden, St Annes, Avondale and St Thomas’s as well as Orrell Red Triangle Cricket Club and Blackburn College helped to create a white hot atmosphere as the players skated out.
All this was made possible throught the work of Project Manager Chris Riley who has coordinated a number of school visits and assemblies to encourage families to give our great sport a try. Chris has been supported by Ollie Lomax, Daniellus Nomanovas, Niks Trapans, Bobby Streetly and Harrison Walker throughout the month, giving young people an insight into what it is like to be a Hawk and a Hockey player.
This reporter may well be looking for a new job in the future. Here is a match report from one of the children who attended the match:
Chris and the volunteer off ice team put on a fantastic spectacle along with both teams on a memorable evening. Our next ‘community night’ will be the Billingham fixture on Saturday December 22nd where we hope to create the same experience and atmosphere as the Solihull game.
If your community group are interested in a visit from Chris and the players please contact him on firstname.lastname@example.org or 07740367425.
