Hawks sign Czech forward for season 2018-19

The “Full 9 Yards” Blackburn Hawks are pleased to announce the signing of Petr Valusiak as our second overseas player for the 2018/19 season.

The experienced 31-year-old forward was born in Ostrava in the Czech Republic stands 5ft 10 and weighs in at 148lbs.

He started his career with Vitkovice juniors in his homeland and played over 100 games in the very competitive Czech under 18 and 20 leagues. Moving on, Petr iced 65 times in the Czech 2nd and 3rd league before moving to Poland for two seasons with Krynica where he earned a place in the Polish All Star game before ending the season with a promotion medal in the play offs for Unia Oswiecim.

Petr brings a wealth of experience with 108 games in the Polish 1st division scoring 34 times and posted 59 assists in those games for Oswiecim and Katowice.

Despite being mostly inactive for the last 4 years, mainly due to work commitments and with him moving to the UK, Petr has kept himself fit and hockey wise by training with Manchester Storm over in Altrincham. He now lives and works in Manchester and is really looking forward to getting back to some serious hockey

Petr commented, “I am really looking to forward to getting on the ice with Hawks and having a great year”.

Head Coach Steve Duncombe commented, “Petr came to us in the summer looking for a place on the roster and I am so pleased we have been able to make it happen. He’s improving every week and having a second overseas player is a great move for the organisation”.

Petr will wear jersey 79 for the Full 9 Yards Blackburn Hawks this season and his home and away jerseys are now available to ‘Own and Loan’ through our Own and Loan scheme please send your application to blackburnhawks@planet-ice.co.uk

As announced previously, the “Terms and Conditions” for this seasons scheme have a changed and are listed below:

After 48 hours all applications will be reviewed.

Selection will be based on the following criteria in order;

  1. Direct family member of the player (email confirmation from the player will be required as evidence).
  2. If last season’s shirt sponsor wants to continue sponsoring the shirt.
  3. A Facebook Live “Random” draw will made by the organisation from all applications received.
