Blackburn Hawks can now announce that the latest in our new signings for the 2019-2020 season is ex Deeside Dragon Geoff Wigglesworth. Geoff iced for the Hawks last season including the cup game against Murrayfield Racers back in January (pictured) and we are absolutely delighted that he has agreed to sign for the Hawks this season.
Forward Geoff has spent most of his career playing for Widnes Wild and more recently Deeside Dragons, where he remained until the end of last season. We are sure you will all give Geoff and his family a warm welcome to the team for the new campaign.
Head Coach James Neil commented on his latest signing:
“We had Geoff guest for us a few times last year and I loved his attitude and mentality. When he played for us, all I heard from him was positivity, words of encouragement and the will to win for the team. When talking to him he understands the role he has to play for the team and that’s important as every player has a different role to play. I look forward to helping him improve his game.”
Geoff also commented on his decision to sign for us this season:
“It’s a pleasure to be asked by Neily to be asked to sign for the Hawks. I iced a few times for the Hawks last year and to see his professionalism, how he coached his players, and the no nonsense approach I think he will get the best out of me. It’s a massive step for me but used in the right way I will do a job for the team. Cannot wait to ice in front of my family and friends again this year, thanks to the Hawks organisation.”
