Weekend Preview

Tough Start for Hawks New Management Team

Your Full 9 Yards Blackburn Hawks are in league action this week with a trip over the border to take on Solway Sharks and back home on Sunday for another game against Sheffield Steeldogs, face off 1730hrs.

What a weekend the Hawks had last time out. A superb home performance taking league leaders Sheffield Steeldogs to a one goal game. Sunday was such an important game and the guys stood up and all were counted as they powered past a gritty Billingham side.

This weekend is a schools visit game once again and after the success of the last 2, everybody is looking forward to 400 plus extra fans in blocks 2 and 3 again to boost the atmosphere. There will be a Valentine’s Tombola and a shoot the puck event on the balcony on the night.  More details of the visit and what is in store for everybody can be found on the game day information article due out on Sunday morning.

The new coaching team of James Neil (Head Coach) and Bobby Streetly( Assistant Coach) make their debut with the long trip north to a Solway team that are there for the taking at the moment. Home against the Steeldogs is always entertaining and a confident Hawks team are capable of running them close as they did last week.

New Head Coach James Neil commented on the upcoming weekend games: “Firstly I would like to thank Duncs for everything over the last 3 seasons. Been a pleasure to work with him.  I am excited to be the coach of the Hawks and have a few ideas on how to get the best out of what is a talented squad. The last three weeks standing in for Duncs allowed me to put ideas forward to the guys and they have all signed up to the programme and the evidence of it working is there to see. I was very proud of all of them last weekend and were unlucky not to take both games.”

The weekend looks like being another doozie for Hawks fans. Be there !!
