THREE PIRATES TO WATCH
Local born defender with a wealth of experience at all levels of British Ice Hockey. Kevin made his debut in 2003 with games for Kingston Jets and Hull Thunder and a debut in the World Junior Championships for the GB U-18 and U-20 teams.
He has iced for Hull Stingrays, Basingstoke Bison, Belfast Giants, Braehead Clan and Guildford Flames in the EIHL before moving to the Pirates this season. All told, Kevin has iced 449 games in the EIHL, 250 games in the EPIHL. He has also represented the GB Senior squad 10 times in the World Championships. Definitely an accomplished player and “one to watch”
An exciting Hull born centre who has played all his career with Hull teams. That is except for a season across the pond with Iowa AAA Elite U-18 side. He was an assistant captain that season, playing 60 games , scoring 31 goals and 18 assists.
He came home to ice for the Pirates I 2015 and is a regular marksman in the NIHL, scoring 21 goals in 15 games so far this season.
A fine young Sheffield born netminder, Bradley has played all his career for Sheffield teams, starting with the Sheffield Greyhounds at u-16 level. He has progressed through almost every Sheffield side including the Steeldogs in the EPIHL and now the Sheffield Steelers, from whom he is on loan to the Pirates for the season.
Hawks had a tremendous come back win against Billingham last Saturday then were brought back down to earth in Hull against the rampant Pirates.
Saturday’s game will be a tough encounter but if they can show the spirit and determination that was on display last Saturday, who knows ? On Sunday the game against Sutton Sting could be interesting with Hawks favourite Kieran Brown icing for them. Hawks will need to take at least 2 points from the weekend if they are to start taking advantage of their games in hand against a couple of teams above them.
As a fan’s bonus, the fabulous band Haze will play in the bar from 2030hrs to round off the year at the nest. More about that in the game day preview on Saturday morning.
