Roydsy Returns for Another Season with the Hawks

The Blackburn Hawks are delighted to announce that James Royds will be returning for the 2026/27 season as the reigning champions look to build on another hugely successful campaign.

A key figure both on and off the ice, Royds has established himself as one of the most consistent and influential players in the league, earning the admiration of teammates, coaches, and fans alike.

Coach Ollie was full of praise for the returning forward:

“We are so lucky to have James Royds in Blackburn. For me, he is the best two-way centre at this level. I’ve never seen him lose a battle, I’ve never seen him not show up, especially on the big stage, and he is the guy that sets the tone night in, night out.

It would have been an injustice to the sport if Roydsy didn’t return to the game three years ago, and I 100% believe that he could play at the next level in a heartbeat.

A man of very few words, but he is well respected in the room. He likes to keep it loose with the boys, but when it’s game time, he backs down for no man.

I’ve never seen a man look so disinterested in hockey become such a machine out on the ice. He’s a 9 out of 10 every week.

Welcome back, Roydsy.”

Royds is equally excited to be pulling on the Hawks jersey once again:

“It’s great to be back for another year with the Hawks for what is sure to be a great season as defending champions. I can’t wait to get back out there in front of the best fans in the league and hopefully add a few more trophies to the cabinet.”

With his leadership, determination, and ability to perform in the biggest moments, Royds’ return provides another huge boost to the Hawks as they prepare to defend their titles and challenge for further silverware in the season ahead.
