The Blackburn Hawks are delighted to confirm that  Niks Trapans will return for the 2026/27 season.

Having rejoined the club last year, Trapans quickly re-established himself as an important part of the Hawks dressing room. His professionalism, team-first attitude and experience make him a valuable member of the goaltending group heading into the new campaign.

Coach Ollie is delighted to welcome the local netminder back for another season.

“Traps is such an unbelievable guy, and I’m thrilled that he’s returning once again after rejoining us last season.

It’s no secret that the backup goalie role is one of the toughest positions to fill. You need someone who’s completely team-first but is also ready to step in at any moment and maintain the high standard of goaltending we’ve set.

As a local lad who worked extremely well with H last year, I’m sure he’ll build a great partnership with Dima. It’s not often you have a Russian and Latvian, both British-trained, forming your goaltending duo!

Traps is a legend in the dressing room, and the boys love him. He’ll be called upon to make some big saves and produce some big moments throughout the season, and I have every confidence he’ll deliver.

Welcome back, Traps!”

Trapans is equally excited to be returning to Blackburn and is eager to build on the success of last season.

“I’m super excited to be back at the Hawks for another year and to play in front of the best fans in the league once again.

After everything we achieved last season, I can’t wait to get back on the ice with the boys. Our success has only made me hungrier to keep winning, and I’m ready to do everything I can to help the team.

Working under Andy, I’m confident we can bring even more silverware back to Blackburn this coming season.

See you all soon!”

Welcome back, Traps!
