Everyone at Blackburn Hawks are delighted to announce the return of Matty Cross for the upcoming season.

Words from Andy McKinney:

“Crossy gets better every time he steps onto the ice. He’s in the perfect environment alongside his teammates to continue developing his game as an offensive defence man. He skates and plays with the same confidence and style as Cale Makar, and this season I’ve challenged Matthew to establish himself as the best defence man in the league.

Blackburn are privileged to have a player of his quality, and his achievements this season – including the awards he picked up – speak for themselves. Matthew earns huge respect from the senior veterans in the dressing room, not only because of his exceptional talent, but because of the person he is off the ice as well.

He’s a true friend of mine, and I’m honoured to welcome him into the leadership group to help make decisions on behalf of the club and the players. He’s someone you keep for as long as possible.”

Matty on his return: “I’m excited to be back for my 6th season at the Hawks. After the success we’ve had as a club, and with the incredible atmosphere the fans bring to every game, it was an easy decision to come back.

See you all in September.”
