Daragh Spawforth signs for Blackburn Hawks for his first senior year. See what Dom has to say.
On this signing I have to say that I think we have found a real gem. Daragh had started to skate with us towards the back end of the last season. He had come out a couple times before but once I saw him the second time out I knew we needed to make room for him last year on Thursday nights.
He is a smooth as they come skater with good hands and without putting pressure on him, I honestly feel will become a pure goal scorer in time. Of course the adjustment to senior hockey will be different, but in my eyes I think he will go places. He’s a big body and just has a natural ability to sniff out the net. I love that he is a shooter that try’s to score not just go high glove all the time.
We have to give him time just like all our younger guys to adjust and learn. It’s a different game and needs to be played the right way. I feel he will be teachable and coachable. Not to mention one of the most respectful young men I have met.
Between himself and Liam Hine being announced we have added loads of future talent and just down right good kids to add to Crawley this season who are all part of our younger crop.
They will hold guys accountable as I know they will give everything they have and with the help of the older guys I think we are building something special. At this point I don’t think we’re done yet with this younger crop of talented GB prospects.
I’m very excited to get my first senior year underway. I’ve had a productive off season, working on preparing myself for the big step up and just can’t wait to get on the ice in front of all the fans
There was no doubt in my mind that I wasn’t going to come to Blackburn. The club is run so professionally and all the boys and staff made me feel so welcome and comfortable right from the first training session, which made my decision so easy.
See you soon hawks fans 🦅!!!
