The Blackburn HAWKS are pleased to announce the return of Daniel MacKriel in his third consecutive season with the club.
‘Budzie’, as he is known by team-mates and fans alike, made his original debut in the 1997/98 season, before returning to Telford where he joined future Hawks Jared Owen, Adam Brittle and Daniel Brittle.
His third stint with the club, where he has served as assistant captain, has seen him establish himself as a firm fan favourite, netting 28 goals.
Hawks Player-Coach, Jared Owen, said: “I’m really happy to have Budz back for this season; he’s one of the leaders on this team and holds himself and his team mates accountable for how they play. He has a lot of respect in the dressing room and when he speaks guys listen – it’s great to have a player like that on our team.
“We know what we’re getting from Budzie – he’s going to create chances and score lots of goals. He’s still one of the better forwards in this league and he gives us a scoring threat when he’s on the ice. He makes the players around him better and gives us some real offensive depth.
“Unfortunately due to his father being taken ill he wasn’t able to finish the season with the guys and the team missed him, especially during the playoff finals weekend. Thankfully his dad is well on the road to recovery and it’s great to be able to have him on the team for the upcoming season.”
