The Blackburn HAWKS are pleased to announce the signing of Canadian forward Jonathan Adams.
The 24-year-old has previously played with King Wild and South Muskoka Shield in Canada’s GMHL, and also had a spell with Malungs IF in Sweden.
The club have been in negotiations with Jonathan for over a month after details were passed on to him by Telford Tigers head coach Tom Watkins earlier in the season.
Blackburn Hawks have since been working hard to complete the appropriate paper-work, and to secure accommodation and jobs but are now delighted to be welcoming him to East Lancashire.
Head Coach Jared Owen said: “We’re excited to have Jonathan joining the team this week. I know the guys are looking forward to him arriving and getting on the ice. He has a good pedigree and looks like he will add some grit and scoring to our line-up.
“We are very grateful that one of our fans has offered to provide some short-term accommodation Jon and this will hopefully help him to settle in straight away.
“Jon has Swedish ancestry through his mother so we are just awaiting completion of his International Transfer Card before he can ice.”
One of Jon’s former coaches, Dallyn Telford of South Muskoka Shield said: “He is a big game player and he performed at his best in our playoff runs. He was well over a point-per-game player and good in the dressing room.
“Jon is physically strong and will sacrifice his body to help his team. He was looked up to by his team-mates and respected by his staff.”
