It is with much regret that Blackburn Hawks management must announce that our unsung hero and fan favourite Craig Lutkevitch has made the decision to retire from ice hockey.
Craig, who hails from Bury, has spent most of his hockey career based at Blackburn. Making junior appearances for Blackburn Eagles and England Under 16 teams, he then progressed to play for the Blackburn Eagles senior team from 2012 through to 2017, also playing for Blackburn Hawks several times between 2014-2017. Craig then made the move to Deeside Dragons in 2017 before becoming a full time member of the Blackburn Hawks team last season with performances which earned him the ‘2018-2019 Unsung Hero’ award at Presentation Evening back in April.
We are sure you will all join us in thanking Craig for all of his hard work and commitment and wish him all the very best for the future.
Earlier Craig sent the following message to the Blackburn Hawks fans and hockey community:
’I’d just like to thank everyone at the Hawks from the fans to the off ice team. I’ve enjoyed my time at the Hawks and wish the boys and Neily all the best for the season.’
James Neil commented:
‘It’s been a pleasure to play alongside Luco over the past couple of seasons. He’s a great guy who has time for everyone on and off the ice and he’s well respected in the room. I was pleased to give him the opportunity to wear the ‘A’ this season and I fully respect his decision to step away from the game. I wish him all the best and I look forward to playing a few rounds of golf with him soon.’
