Blackburn HAWKS regret to announce that forward Sam Dunford will not return to the lineup for the remainder of the season.
The long serving player is taking time away from the ice after struggling to match the demanding league schedule with his other commitments.
Dunford was absent for Blackburn’s 3 : 1 win over the Sutton Sting last weekend and following conversations with team management and Player Coach Jared Owen, he was allowed to leave the team with immediate effect.
Despite being disappointed to lose the talented player, Owen was full of praise for Dunford: “Sam is one of the most well liked guys in the dressing room and you know what you’re getting from him week-in week-out. He will be missed by the team and staff alike.
“We all have full time jobs and lives outside hockey – it’s a big commitment giving up your weekends to play home and away.
“Sometimes other things take priority and we respect Sam’s decision.
“The door will always be open to him should he ever wish to rejoin the team in future, but we wish him all the best and hope to see him at a few games as the season continues.”
