The Blackburn Hawks Management would like to announce that Stephen Fone will be taking time out from ice hockey and playing with the Hawks but will remain part of the squad with a view to a possible return later in the season.

Comments From Stephen

“Unfortunately with an increase in my work commitments and raising a young family I feel I need to take a step back and take some time away from hockey. It’s a tough decision that I haven’t taken lightly but ultimately I don’t think it would be fair on the team or the fans if I couldn’t produce my best week in week out. Likewise I feel I need to commit more time to being with my family and my 1 year old to spend some quality time together. This is not the end just yet as I’m not fully retiring, rather just taking a leave of absence! I’ll still remain officially part of the Hawks team so if my circumstances change I may make a few more appearances yet. But for now I’d just like to say thanks to Duncs and the Hawks organisation for the opportunity and wish them the best for the rest of the season”.

” I full understand Stephens decision at this time and we are happy that he will remain part of the squad. Stu Asthon has shown he is more than capable of taking the lead role between the pipes this season and we look forward to the reset of the season”
