As announced in tonight’s match programme, the Blackburn HAWKS have teamed up with Cancer Research UK for the 2013/14 season to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer.

During the warm up at each home game, one of the players will wear a special pink Hawks shirt bearing the names of Hawks fans or their loved-ones who have lost their lives to cancer.

At the end of the season, the shirt will be signed by the players and auctioned off with all profits going to the charity.

The Hawks will be organising a number of events in support of Cancer Research UK throughout the season – details will appear on, Twitter and Facebook.

Anyone wishing to make a donation, or to have a name featured on the shirt can contact the club at

One response to “HAWKS join the fight against cancer”

  1. Esther Gradwell says:

Hi I lost my grandparents to cancer, they both died within 6 months of each other. Their names are Phyllis and Raymond Cragg.

Just a thought, but I’m sure John Milton would be more than happy to take a photo of the people who have donated, and have asked for names to be on the shirt, with the payer who is wearing it, for a further donation.

I think it’s a great idea, such a worthwhile cause for something that affects us all at some point in one way or another, and if John and O can help in one way or another please let us know.

    Kind regards
    Esther x
