The Blackburn HAWKS are through to the NIHL Moralee Conference final after edging their semi final clash on penalties.

The Hawks, who faced Billingham in the second semi final of the weekend in Dumfries, we’re behind by two goals at the end of the first period, before Aaron Davies grabbed a brace in the second period to level the tie.

Neither team was able to capitalise on their chances in the third, as a a fast, physical contest took its toll on both sets of players – not to mention the nervous fans watching in the stands.

With the scores tied at two-a-piece after 60 minutes of play, the game went to sudden death overtime, though neither team was able to find the ‘golden goal’.

Instead, it fell to captain Chris Arnone and star forward Adam Brittle to send Blackburn to their third straight playoff final, winning the shootout 2 : 0.

The Hawks will face the Solway Sharks in today’s playoff final at 2pm.

Tickets are available on the door, and coverage of HAWKS vs Solway is available through the Hawks official Twitter feed:
