The Blackburn HAWKS are pleased to announce that Latvian import Ivo Dimitrijevs has signed with the team for the 2013/14 season. Ivo joined the team in October last year and was a part of the playoff winning team.
Ivo, who now lives and works in the Blackburn area, became a firm fan favourite last year for his solid work-ethic and enthusiasm on the ice.
Player-Coach Jared Owen said: “Ivo is a good skater who can handle the puck well and can be a handful for opposition defences.
“He showed that he had a real scoring touch at times last season and we’re looking for him to add a little more consistency to his performances as he can be a very good player in this league.
“I can’t fault his commitment to training and games and I think he will be a real asset for the team in this upcoming season. Ivo adds great depth to our forward lines and we need that if we want to be challenging at the top of the league this season, I have no doubts he will build on his goal and points totals from last season.”
Securing Dimitrijevs’ signature concludes the Hawks business for the summer and all at the Blackburn Hawks are looking forward to getting the season under-way this weekend.
The team will visit the Manchester Minotaurs on Saturday (Puck-drop at 5pm) before hosting the Sheffield Spartans at the Blackburn Arena on Sunday (Puck-drop 5:45pm)
