The Blackburn HAWKS are pleased to announce that forward Jake Nurse will return to the side for the new season.
Jake was signed from the Manchester Minotaurs mid-way through last season, having served as captain at the Altrincham based club, and played at EPL level with the Manchester Phoenix.
During his short time with the club, Jake has impressed with his no-nonsense approach and willingness to stand up for his team-mates in high pressure situations. He also contributed his fair share of goals last campaign, with seven in 15 appearances.
Speaking to BlackburnHawks.com, head coach Jared Owen said: “Jake is a player we’ve admired for a while; so when the opportunity came around for us to have the chance to sign him last season, I jumped at it.
“He had a great relationship on the ice with Budz (Daniel MacKriel) and that line chipped in with some important goals when we needed them. He keeps his game simple and does all the little things right. He’s always listening and willing to learn and as a coach that’s what you want from your players.
“Jake bought an instant presence to the team, he is a 100% team first guy and will stick up for any of his team mates, but more than that he brought some additional offence and spark to the line-up. I have no doubt we will see an increase in Jake’s offensive numbers this season with a full season as part of the team.”
