Blackburn Hawks management are pleased to announce that the 2012/13 playoff winning coaches Jared Owen and Daniel Brittle will be back to lead the team in the 2013/14 season.
Player-Coach Owen said:
“I’m delighted to be back for what will be my fourth season as coach of the Hawks.
“We had an excellent finish to the season – winning the play-offs – and it was great to be able to put the team together that won the first silverware in the clubs history. We want to build on that and put together a team that we feel can challenge for the league title. That’s the big one, and to win it you have to be the best team all year.
“Last year’s team showed that it had the talent when we had a full squad but we unfortunately weren’t able to play the full season with a full team and Dangie and I are looking to address that this summer. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes talking to players that we feel can add both quality and depth to the team we had last season.”
Jared was also keen to stress the importance of the returning Hawks net-minder and right-hand-man Danny Brittle:
“I’m very pleased to have Dangie back between the pipes and as my assistant coach. The quality he brings to the team and his ability to make the big save when we need it allow the team to build momentum. He’s going to play a big part in us being competitive next year so I’m looking forward to having him back.
“He also plays a very important role in the dressing room as a link between the players and me, he’s available for the guys to talk to and works with me to ensure we have the best possible atmosphere in the dressing room that we can.
The team will be making further announcements for the new season in due course.
