Blackburn Hawks Ice Hockey Club would like to thank each and every one of our fans for their fantastic support for another year. And what better way to do this than by presenting you with a gift in the shape of a new Import. Ladies and Gentlemen may we present… Jozef Istocy.

JoZef has just turned Twenty Four, and hails from Kejmarok in Slovakia. He stands at over Six feet tall and has played most of his Hockey in Tier Two of the Slovakian League (115 Games). He joins us from HK Spiska Nova Ves, having also played in Poland.

Jozef flies in on January 3rd and joins up with his new team mates and will go straight into the line up for the following weekends games.

Jozef had the following to say to the supporters;

“I’m glad that I can play for the Hawks, I heard that you have great fans, I hope to be beneficial to the team, it’s my first time in England and I’m really looking forward to it”

Coach Steve Duncombe commented:

“I’m really happy to have Jozef in with us, we looked at several options to strengthen the team, and we all agreed a quality Import at this time would be a great addition, we looked at several options and Jozef was right up there on our lists, lot’s of work has gone in behind the scenes to get the deal done, and I appreciate the input and help I’ve had from the guys, I know the boys will be happy to have him in the room and they’ll make him more than welcome”.

So, once again from everyone at the club, we’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to seeing everyone again on January 7th when we host Deeside Dragons.
