When we first had Liam out with us before last season, it was a no-brainer — the kid was ready to play at our level. I would’ve brought him in sooner if I could, but the age restrictions really came into play.
He quickly earned the nickname “Ricky Bobby” from the boys — and rightly so, because he always wants to go fast. That’s the best part of his game. At times, it was tough to get him to slow down and find that first pass, but you can’t blame him… I think his legs actually do the thinking for him! It’s hard to ask a young guy to ease off and be more calculated — and to be honest, 99% of the time, you don’t want him to.
His ability to learn is second to none, and his attitude is every coach’s and teammate’s dream. He’s a strong skater, and his battle level is off the charts. He’s been skating at the national level, and I truly believe we’ll see him flourish even more by playing alongside the veterans we have here on this competitive team.
He’ll keep evolving, keep learning — and this could be a big year for him to bring home silverware to his hometown.
Welcome back, Ricky Bobby!
