We’ve been extremely fortunate to welcome Ethan to our media team. He brings a wealth of experience and creativity, and his talent for jersey design is second to none. We’re truly grateful to have him on board, supporting the club internally — and he’s already created an absolute masterpiece with this latest design.

Here’s a little more about how Ethan approached the design and the inspiration behind this wonderful jersey.

The Armed Forces kit is designed to honour two important themes. First and foremost, it serves as a tribute to the brave individuals who gave their lives in defence of their country. It also recognises and celebrates Blackburn’s own proud contribution to the Armed Forces.

The kit’s colour scheme — an impactful blend of black and cream-gold — draws inspiration from the uniforms worn by Allied officers during World War I. This bold combination creates a look that is both striking and dignified. It commands presence on the ice, blending strength with a quiet sense of respect and grace.

The kit includes several thoughtful design elements that truly elevate its overall impact. One standout feature is the camouflage pattern incorporated into the lower section and sleeves, subtly embedded with faint Hawks icons throughout — a nod to identity and remembrance woven into the fabric.

The club’s logo has also been respectfully updated to include the timeless remembrance phrase, “Lest We Forget,”reinforcing the message of honour and reflection associated with this jersey. In place of the traditional Lancashire rose, the poppy has been introduced — a powerful and universally recognised symbol of remembrance and respect.

The reverse side of the jersey also carries meaningful tributes to Blackburn’s own history. On the back of the collar, two numbers — 3117 and 320 — are proudly displayed. These figures represent the number of lives lost from Blackburn in the First and Second World Wars, respectively. After researching the Blackburn Roll of Honour, these numbers were recorded to ensure the town’s sacrifices are not forgotten and to honour the individuals behind them in a lasting and visible way.

Beneath the player number on the back of the jersey, you’ll find a poignant literary tribute. Featured here are the final lines from “For the Fallen”, a powerful poem by Lancashire-born poet Laurence Binyon. Written in honour of those who gave their lives in war, the poem has become a central part of Remembrance Day ceremonies across the UK.

The lines included on the jersey read:

“As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.”

These words serve as a timeless reminder of enduring sacrifice and unwavering remembrance.

The lads will proudly wear these special jerseys on home ice on Saturday 8th November when we take on the Deeside Dragons. Face-off is at 6:00 PM, so make sure you’re there to show your support and be part of  a memorable night.
