Sam is a guy we’re very lucky to bring in at this time of year to help make our push. He’s a player we’ve been on and off with for the last couple of years, trying to get on board, but the timing just wasn’t right and we never wanted to pressure him. Now the timing seems perfect, so we jumped at the opportunity.

“With Liam going to the Knights full-time and Gary stepping away for personal reasons, we needed to juggle things around. Sam will help us get faster, grittier, more experienced, and deeper on the back end. I’ve known Sam a long time and played against him—he’s an outright competitor, the kind of guy you hate to face.

“He’s in unbelievable shape despite being out of the game for a bit, and after watching him skate with us the last couple of seasons, he’s not going to have any trouble adjusting. We’re really lucky to have him both on the ice and in the room, and we’re very happy we came to an agreement.

“We won’t have Sam for every game, but the ones he’s in will massively strengthen us—especially these key games coming up through to the end of the year.”

“Really excited to join up with the Hawks and help the lads out for the remainder of the season. It’s a really good bunch of guys and a great place to play hockey. I’m looking forward to getting back on the ice, having some fun, getting the competitive juices flowing again, and hopefully lifting some silverware come April.”
