Off Season, what off season?

As most people are enjoying their downtime and Summer (when it eventually arrives), the wheels of industry have kept turning here at Hawks HQ.

To say it’s been a bit busy would be the understatement of the year as the business has gone through a massive change in ownership and at the same time still trying to keep things “as they were” so to speak.

The business (Evermax Events Ltd) is now owned by existing Director (Graham Lomax) with some familiar faces to most joining him as Directors, these being Scott Jenkinson, Steve Hirst and Darren Wilson, and Mark Smith has also joined the new board as Non Executive Chairman.

We asked Graham to give us an overview of what’s been happening behind the scenes and what the club’s plans are going onto the new season.

Here is what “Gratz” had to say.

I think on the back of last seasons unexpected success we’ve made things harder for ourselves. I suppose as we’ve now set the standards that we have to try to equal, but we’re all confident we can maintain this with the plans we have in place and the new leadership group we have.

I’ll do my best to give an insight as to what’s been happening and some of the things on the horizon.

The weight has been lifted a bit for me personally now, and the idea of bringing in new blood at the top was to lighten my load somewhat, this I started doing at the back end of last season with the appointment of Aiden Wignall (Travel) and Ali Culshaw (Equipment) so we can now look at dedicating more time to all the important aspects of the business that probably go unnoticed, and helping grow the brand, So..

Dom and Ollie have been busy putting together another strong roster, at the time of writing this I know they’re well on their way with this and hopefully this will see most of last seasons squad return, but inevitably some will move on, so we’d all like to take this opportunity to thank those that pulled on the Blackburn Hawks so proudly last season.

Talking of Shirts you may have noticed social media posts that have recently gone out stating we have a new supplier and the new shirt designs are currently in the process of being “signed off” and I know we have had some stunning designs over the past few seasons, but these are stunning.

While I’m on the subject of social media, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank Luke and Nicole for their work, and I for one love their enthusiasm to take us to another level, I’m the first to admit I’m a Dinosaur and don’t understand most of it, but I do know that’s were we need to be in this era.

Ollie and I recently met with England Ice Hockey and DOPS to give us an insight to the future, I have to say that the both of us were extremely positive about the future of the sport and both organizations.

We have another meeting in a months time with the league to discuss fixtures, which again can only be another positive, as they seem to be well ahead of where they where this time last season.

If you feel you have something to offer the club as we evolve and grow please feel free to contact us, that could be in any capacity, whether that be volunteering, sponsorship or any skillset that you think you could be of value to us.

So, on behalf of ALL the Directors, we’d like to thank you for you continued support, believe me when I say it’s soon be September.
